Matheo Techer is a French musician who was born on January 6th, 1998 in Reunion island. Matheo, whose parents are accomplished musicians, grew up surrounded by music. He has been playing drums since he was 3 and started to study music at the regional Conservatory at the age of 7. He received a Diploma of Musical studies from the Conservatory in 2015.

Matheo grew up listening and playing various musical styles (Modern jazz, soul, funk, indie-Pop and traditional music from Reunion Island). Around 11 years old,  he started composing his own music and recording all the instruments himself (Drums, Guitar, Bass, Keys).

While he was studying in Reunion, Matheo played with many local artists (Dominique Barret, Meddy Gerville, Bernard Joron...) and regularly performed in front of thousands of people on the best stages there (Theatre de Saint-Gilles, Theatre Champs-Fleuri...). He also produced the opening song and worked on the arrangements for the TV show Generation Runstar, 3 seasons in a row. The show aired on the number one local television channel.

In 2017, he is invited with his band to the 10th edition of the festival ‘’La Nuit des Virtuoses’’to perform original music and also collaborate with Jacob Collier (Mutli-Grammy award winner).


Matheo received a scholarship based on his ability and potential in the prestigious Berklee College Of Music (Boston, MA) where he went on with his studies and musical career. He graduated from Berklee in 2018.

Matheo collaborated with many well-known musicians such as MARO, Aurus, Matthew Garrison, Darren Barrett and more recently Munir Hossn and Hadrien Feraud. You may also have seen him on drums with artists such as Nasaya, Naika, Maye and many more. Matheo is also the drummer on the latest album of Darren Barret (Released on Nov 2nd 2019), featuring the jazz legends Kenny Garrett and Kurt Rosenwinkel.

These numerous collaborations brought Matheo around the world to perform in front of crowded rooms. Matheo was in a residency at the Quincy Jones jazz club in Dubai with the Spanish artist Nalaya Brown featuring Munir Hossn. and Adam Hersch. He also was invited in Mexico city to perform in some of the finest clubs of the city.

More recently, Matheo has been writing to picture for short films and documentaries. He composed and wrote arrangements for the Symphonic Orchestra (ORR) in Reunion island where they performed several sold out shows in renown venues.
